The 1,830 passenger ship, will replace the cruise line's Island Escape, which briefly sailed with Royal Caribbean in the late 90's as Viking Serenade. Various Royal Caribbean trademarks, such as the iconic Viking Crown Lounge can still be found on the vessel.
Speaking in March, Helen Caron, Managing Director of Thomson Cruises, said:
"We’re very excited to be welcoming the ship to our fleet next summer. This is the first step in our fleet modernisation and transformation strategy and will bring an enhanced offering to our customers with more balcony cabins than ever before, a wider choice of suites, an increased number of dining options and extra entertainment and activity facilities. We are confident that our customers will enjoy sailing on the new addition to our fleet."
Thomson Discovery will sail from Palma De Mallorca in 2016, along with Thomson Majesty. Thomson Celebration will operate from Dubrovnik, while Thomson Dream will cruise from Corfu. Thomson Spirit will sail out of Malaga.
Thomson Cruises' 2016 itineraries, as well as those for Thomson Discovery, will be released on 23rd April.
