A P&O Cruises spokesperson explained:
"Whilst coming into port this morning in high winds Oriana touched the berth and is now alongside at QEII terminal. As soon as the winds drop Oriana will reposition to Ocean Terminal and passengers will disembark."
Guests on board will stay an extra night on board Oriana before disembarking when the wind has dropped. Passengers will also be receiving a 50% refund of the cruise fare paid.

"All those passengers who arrived in Southampton are now in hotels in the area where they will be met in the morning and transferred to the ship. Oriana moved to the Ocean Terminal around 7.30pm this evening and those passengers who wish to disembark will be able to do so once the luggage has been transferred. Boarding for the next cruise will be from lunchtime tomorrow. Again, we apologise for the delay and disruption to passengers today."
