Viking Cruises has officially taken delivery of its first ocean cruise ship, the 47,800-ton Viking Star. The ship was delivered to Viking's Founder and Chairman, Torstein Hagen at Fincantieri's Marghera shipyard in Italy, where the ship has been constructed.

Viking Ocean Cruises has announced that Captain Gulleik Svalastog will take the helm of its first ocean vessel, Viking Star.
Due to launch in April 2015, Viking Star will sail Scandinavia, the Baltics, and the Mediterranean. Svalastog has previously worked for Norwegian Cruise Lines and Crystal Cruises. His most recent role was as captain for Color Line Cruises. |
