In this blog post, I wanted to share my top 5 travel gadgets and accessories that I always take with me on my cruises.
Anker Astro Charger This pocket-sized charger may be small, but it's packed with a whole lot of juice. The Anker Astro 5600mAh charger is ideal for charging mobile devices. With enough battery power for 2-3 full charges, you never have to worry about running out of battery whilst visiting a port of call or roaming around the ship. If you are like me, who constantly uses your phone for tweeting, posting, messaging and photographing my cruise experience, then this is a vital gadget to take on your next cruise. |
Marine Traffic Mobile App The Marine Traffic App is one of the leading services for tracking vessels and is available on the major app stores. Although the application costs £2.49 on the Apple store, and there are cheaper alternatives available, Marine Traffic is worth every penny. A useful feature that you can do is create a personal fleet of vessels to track. This is brilliant for people who want to know where all the cruise ships of a particular cruise line are in the world. I use this app on my cruises to check what other cruise ships are in the area and if there is a possibility of us sailing past them on a day at sea, etc. It's also handy to see what time vessels will arrive and depart as well as their current speed and destination. |
TowelWizz The Towel Wizz is an elasticated band that can fit around most loungers and chairs. Apart from keeping your towel on your sun lounger, it also has many other practical uses. For instance, it can help keep a rolled up towel in place, perfect for carrying around in your bag on shore excursions to the beach. Or how about wrapping it around your suitcase to easily stand out from the crowd at the airport baggage hall or cruise terminal! Not only can it do all that, but it can also keep your books and personal belongs like hats, lotion and glasses secured to your lounger. The uses are truly endless. I was asked to review this product back in August as part of RCIfans and the band is really useful for keeping your towel fastened to your sun lounger. With a wide range of colours to choose from such as royal blue, polka-dot pink and aqua, the TowelWizz is not only practical, but looks great too. |
Snapseed Mobile App Snapseed is a useful free mobile photo editing tool created by Google. Its advanced features and effects can help create a dull photo into a strikingly beautiful image. I'm an avid user of Instagram and I mainly use Snapseed to improve my mobile photos before uploading them to Instagram. Although the main principles of the app are similar to Instagram, such as the filters and contrast settings, the effects that you can create are more advanced. |
Panasonic Lumix FZ150 For my cruise photography I use the Panasonic Lumix FZ150 camera. I've had it for nearly two years now and it still performs remarkably well. The camera combines professional quality and features with affordability and you don't need advanced photography skills to capture beautiful images. It also has a flip-out, rotatable, LCD screen, perfect for using the camera at height, or taking high quality selfies! There is now a newer version of the camera, the FZ200. It is an improvement to the older FZ150 and has a few more features, but the general style and design is the same. |
